Please Help Stop Publix From Selling Sharks

Taking a cue from my friend Shark Angel Julie Andersen, I decided to do something about a situation that angers me. I shop at the College Park Publix on Edgewater Drive in Orlando, Florida, and last week, I was selecting a cut of farm-raised tilapia when I noticed that they had shark for sale. Shark. I asked the meat manager why on earth they would sell shark.

He said, “Ma’am, we sell whatever the truck brings us.”

I find this inexcusable and I am hoping that Publix will stop the sale of shark meat, so today I emailed them, urging them to please stop selling shark meat.

If you want to help me protest this, please email:

She’s the Media & Community Relations Manager for Central and South West Florida.

The best part? Publix has pages on their Website devoted to their Greenwise stores that aim to help the environment. In their mission statement, they say:

Publix's continued success depends upon sustaining our environment, the people in our company and communities, and our business. Publix has always been committed to the responsible use of environmental resources.

Well, this behavior is certainly not sustaining anything. Please email, email, email. Hopefully we will get a response that I can post right here.

 Many thanks,

Brooke Morton
