RX Lenses for dive mask

I am searching for the most economical way to have RX lenses put in my mask. I have found that I have trouble seeing my gauges underwater. Some have said not to go to a dive shop because the lenses aren't true RX, they are the same as buying magnifying reading glasses from walmart. Is that true? Should I go to an optical store that specializes in RX dive masks?

I have not heard that prescription lenses sold at dive shops are of inferior quality. I formerly worked at a dive shop and customers seemed happy with what we sold them. What dive shops often carry are standard prescriptions, such as -2, -1 and the like. But they often know which companies to send your mask to for specific prescriptions.

I have a prescription mask. My dive shop did try the standard Rx lenses they carry but I found that they wouldn't work for me. I picked out my mask and they sent it off to get the Rx lenses put on it. I had it back within 2 weeks.

There are magnifying "stickers" that you can put in your mask like bifocals as well. I've never dove with them, so I can't comment on them but they look simple enough to install and I know of one diver who really enjoys them.

Ask your local dive shop what they recommend for Rx masks.
