As a key staff member, the Features Editor will ensure the editorial calendar, mission and voice are executed to the highest possible standards for Sport Diver magazine and its branded website The FE will be a key person in ongoing creative development of editorial product, and a primary editor for several sections of the magazine. This mid-level position will work directly with the Sr. Editor and the Editorial Director.

Department Responsibility:

1. Primary first line editor for features and departments

2. Detail editor for consistency of voice and editorial mission, as applied to each section of the magazine

3. Contributions as assigned by Editorial Director, including captions, fillers, heads, subheads, and other misc. writing needs as required

4. Secondary writer for advertorial materials, including ad copy and special advertising sections, equipment and travel

5. Collaborate creatively with Editorial Director for ongoing, overall development of the editorial product

6. Coordinate with writers and editorial staff for editorial mission achievement

7. Maintain edit plan on an issue by issue basis

Administrative Responsibility:

1. Maintains editorial plan and individual issue plan

2. Reviews speculative submissions for possible use in the magazine; works with assigned contributors

3. Support of workflow as needed, to include but not limited to: administrative support, photo support, support of managing editor in adhering to timely execution of issue plans, contact with contributors as required by ED, availability at all staff functions and strategy planning.
