Check out the underwater pumpkin carving contests scheduled for 2009. Most ask that you bring your own pumpkin, dive knife as well as extra weight. The photo at left is from Amy Slate's Amoray Dive Resort, which has organized underwater carving contests for the past 12 years.

For a chance to win a hat from Bottom Crawlers, post your pumpkin photos on sportdiver.com. Log in (or create a profile if you're new to our community), then upload images of your carved pumpkin and be sure to tag the photo with the word "pumpkin." Deadline is November 30, 2009.

Join Dona Ana Divers as we head south to San Carlos Mexico for our Annual Halloween Pumpkin Carving contest. We will be leaving Las Cruces on thursday Oct 29th and have you there for a 2 tank afternoon dive. Three tank boat dive on friday and 3 tank boat dive on saturday. Lunch is included each day on the boat. Prices includes transportation, lodging (double occupancy) 8 boat dives and all toll fees. Not included are boat crew tips. Still have a couple of slots left. The Seattle Marker Buoy Dive Club and the Boeing Seahorse Dive Club have an annual joint pumpkin carving contest. Join us this year, 2009, on Halloween Oct 31, at 9 am at Alki Beach in West Seattle. See my page for sample videos, or on youtube at http://youtube.com/watch?v=rYWDYI0StV4

In 2004 the Seahorse Club carved a world record 338 lb pumpkin, since exceeded. In 2007 a couple tried in vain to keep their pumpkin down long enough to carve; demonstates how difficult buoyancy can be. I've uploaded both videos to my profile page.

Our 14th Annual - Underwater Pumpkin Carving Contest 'rounds' out the month on Halloween Day!! Last year we had over 24 knife-wielding maniacs converge at Redondo to demonstrate their "creativity", as they carved the perfect pumpkin UNDERWATER!! This event is expected to be larger this year and is open to everyone - families, kids, relatives, and even divers! Prizes will be awarded for your scariest, most creative and funniest pumpkins that you actually carve underwater…with a dive knife!

All you need to bring is your own pumpkin, dive knife and Halloween Spirit; we'll do the rest! Our panel of candy-eating judges will be 'goblin' it down by the bag full to get into the proper 'spirit' to render fair decisions. All kids 16 and under will be 'sworn in' as judges. Afterward, we'll all go for pizza and refreshments.

The contest will be held Saturday October 31st at Redondo Beach at 10am sharp! Be sure to join us and "take a stab" at it! Check it out!
