Thread: Why Dive Dry?

  1. #1

    Default Why Dive Dry?

Here's a few questions for all our drysuit divers out there ... how did you get into drysuit diving and why? What's your favorite aspect of drysuit diving and what advice would you give to other Sport Diver Community members about going dry?

We look forward to some great advice from the community and hope you'll all check the October issue of Sport Diver magazine for more on drysuit diving!

Wink Why dive dry? Why would you not if you live here in Canada?

Dry is the only way to go for comfort and warmth. It is easy to learn and I am proud to be known as a "dry-baby" I can dive even in our warmer water with less under the suit, and in a blink, head for the deeper lake, where it might be 20 degrees (or more) cooler and just add the layer back, add the hood and gloves and voila...easy and dry and comfy for the apres dive drinks!

When you live around Lake Ontario, it's the ONLY way to go and dive, dive dive month after month!

The first time I dove in cold water was pretty shocking to me. It's a lot harder to keep a clear mind, and simple tasks get a lot harder when your hands are freezing. I'd much prefer to be warm, which is why I mostly stick to tropical locations for my diving now.
