If you are interested in taking a weekend trip (out of Freeport) to the flower gardens or artificial reefs (oil rigs) give Aquatic Excursions a call - they should be able to put you in touch with the right people or let you know of upcoming trips.

Todd,
If you're willing to leave out of Freeport, there is no better Flower Gardens operator than Gulf Diving. http://www.gulf-diving.com/ The Flower Gardens National Marine Sanctuary is an incredible ecosystem; nothing else like it in the Gulf of mainland US coast.
For a detailed look at the Flower Gardens, go to the Sanctuary's site at http://www.flowergarden.nos.noaa.gov/welcome.html
For 1/3 the price of a Cozumel trip, do a 3-day live-aboard trip and you won't be sorry you did. You'll see scads of coral species, likely some pelagics, definitely some barracuda, possibly a turtle or manta, and possibly even a whale shark (though they're only rarely spotted).
