Hey all,

I?m a newly certified diver enjoying the thrills of the subsurface world. I?ve spent the last week researching dive computers. I am on a bit of a budget, but I want to get a computer that will accommodate my needs now as well as allow me to grow. I?ve settled on a few different models and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with any of these. I seem to have sunken into the algorithm abyss and the differences in options the different computers offer. Some seem to be very liberal while others sway to the conservative side?I?m not sure which is best. So, here are the computers I?m comparing and considering.

1) Suunto Gekko
2) Aeris Atmos 2
3) Cressi Archimedes
4) the new UWATEC Aladin Prime.

I?m open for any and all suggestions in both usability and algorithm preferences. Thanks in advance.

Ok, You can really drive yoursef nuts trying to decifer the algorithms of different computers and making sense of which one is right for you. Try to look at it a different way. You want one to grow with so abviously a good choice would be one with nitrox capability. But, aside from that, think about what kind of diving you want to do with it. Cold water? Go Conservative. Are you very fit and diving in warm water? Maybe a more liberal computer would fit you. When it comes right down to it, they are all pretty much on the same page. Some will allow for less surface intervals and more dives in the day, some give you more time at shallower depths... When all is said and done, nothing beats YOUR understanding of diving physiology and using that knowlege wisely.
