Buying first regulator

I have been open water certifice since April of this year, and have about 8 dives certified into my log. I am now getting ready to buy some serious equipment. I have several masks, fins and a snorkel. I am now ready to make my first large purchase, and was recommended to purchase a good regulator. My local dive shop suggested the Oceanic Delta 3 for a second stage, and the CDX5 for the first stage. Is this the correct way to go? I need all the help I can get. Please advise.
