Hi everyone. I want to share my story with you divers, who are the luckiest people in the world. I am 27 years old and vent-dependent with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. I love everything to do with scuba diving and all the technology for diving. I love everything to do with underwater life too. (especially SHARKS!) I live in Woodbury, MN- the land of 10,000 lakes. I have one last goal I want to accomplish in my life and that is to go scuba diving! My doctor and other colleagues think it?s doable with the right equipment. And I have many others working on this project with me. I?m also in contact with respiratory therapists and if there are any respiratory therapist who know?s scuba diving that can help me with my quest. So if anyone knows of someone with this back ground please let me know.

I know Dick Long and am best friends with his daughter Susan Long from DUI. They are willing to help me with the dive when the technical details about using a vent underwater are worked out. I have already been in touch with some handicapped scuba groups, but they don't have experience with ventilators. Professor Mike Lombardi has been taking an active interest in my project cooridination and putting the final package together. ! If you want to know more about me and my dream you can check out my web site.

Here's another! link to an article that Navy Seals.com wrote about me recently. http://www.navyseals.com/community/articles/article.cfm?id=4904
One of the largest newspapers in my state is going to pulish an article this week. I am also in touch with quite a few more dive magazines that may be publishing stories about me soon.

I am willing to do anything to make my dream to go scuba diving happen. Anything that you can do ? publicity, referrals, advice, support - to help make my dream happen I would be extremely grateful.

Take care everybody have a safe dive Matt
